The Best Delivery Thanksgiving Meal Kits (2025)
Making a full Thanksgiving feast for guests can be daunting, for some perhaps even terrifying. The world, and especially Hallmark movies, is full of holiday disaster stories: burnt turkeys, failed desserts, steamed hams. But I’m not bragging when I say that the first Thanksgiving dinner I prepared for my extended family—a little early, this year—was an unmitigated success. My aunt couldn’t stop talking about the black pepper in the biscuits and the sage on the carrots. My uncle went in for the turkey and the apple-sausage stuffing. My father didn’t speak at all, unless prompted. He just ate and ate. This was a compliment. But of course, I had cheated. I had ordered my Thanksgiving in the mail—one of the new breed of Thanksgiving meal kits that are increasingly becoming the secret weapon for savvy hosts in 2025.
These innovative services are transforming the holiday kitchen experience, offering a perfect blend of gourmet quality, convenience, and the cherished home-cooked feel, all without the overwhelming stress of planning, sourcing, and executing a multi-course meal from scratch. This year, more than ever, meal kits are emerging as the ultimate solution for a seamless and delicious Thanksgiving celebration.
Why Choose a Thanksgiving Meal Kit?
The appeal of Thanksgiving meal kits in 2025 is multifaceted, addressing many common holiday pain points:
- Stress Reduction: The primary benefit. Say goodbye to frantic grocery store expeditions, forgotten ingredients, and endless recipe searches. Meal kits deliver everything needed, pre-portioned and ready to go.
- Time-Saving: While you still get the satisfaction of cooking, these kits drastically cut down on planning, shopping, and often, extensive prep work like chopping. This frees up invaluable time to spend with loved ones or simply to relax.
- Gourmet Quality & Diverse Flavors: Many providers partner with chefs to create unique, elevated versions of classic dishes, often using high-quality, organic, or specialty ingredients you might not typically find. This allows for culinary exploration without the risk of failure.
- Portion Control & Reduced Waste: Kits often come in various sizes, helping you order precisely what you need for your guest count, minimizing leftovers and food waste—a growing concern for environmentally conscious consumers.
- Expert Guidance: Detailed, step-by-step recipes often include helpful tips for organization and timing, making even complex dishes approachable for cooks of all skill levels.
Below, we delve into my experiences with some of the best Thanksgiving meal kit delivery options available to get your whole Thanksgiving meal delivered to your home.
The Blue Apron à la Carte Thanksgiving (and Holiday) Meal Kit
Available till December 29. Order by November 19 to ensure delivery by Thanksgiving.
Blue Apron, one of the original meal kit services in the US, has undergone a significant transformation this year, notably by removing the subscription requirement. This means you can now order à la carte meals, making it my favorite no-subscription meal kit offering for everyday occasions, and an excellent flexible option for Thanksgiving 2025. You can select individual Thanksgiving recipe kits to prepare fresh at home, entirely bypassing the often-chaotic experience of crowded holiday grocery stores.
Their Thanksgiving and holiday menu is designed for flexibility and flavor. I recently prepared a full eight-dish spread for my sister’s family and our parents, serving a total of eight hungry adults, and it was a resounding success. The menu included a delightful roasted grape and goat cheese salad ($12), a substantial turkey breast with savory gravy and tangy cranberry sauce ($50) as the centerpiece, a comforting rosemary herb stuffing ($15), and a truly excellent, indulgent casserole of truffle-oiled Southern mac and cheese ($20). For dessert, an almond apple crumb pie ($15) provided a sweet finish. Classic sides like brown butter mashed potatoes ($8), challah rolls with maple ($8), and roasted Brussels sprouts with pistachios ($10) completed the feast. The portions were generous, easily feeding eight people, and could likely stretch to ten with an extra order of mashed potatoes.
The entire spread, encompassing eight distinct dishes, cost approximately $130. This is remarkably reasonable, especially when considering the quality and convenience compared to pre-cooked Thanksgiving meals from local gourmet grocery stores. The prep process was surprisingly smooth, with tasks evenly distributed across the stovetop, countertop, and oven. This thoughtful planning meant we never had to fight for oven space, even with a turkey breast roasting simultaneously. While the entire preparation took just over three hours, it was largely stress-free. The most labor-intensive tasks were simple, such as halving Brussels sprouts and cubing potatoes, allowing for a relaxed cooking experience. I even had time to crack open a beer before the turkey was ready for the oven. While perhaps not as overtly "luxe" or inventively crafted as Sunbasket’s $200 Thanksgiving feast, Blue Apron’s offering provides exceptional value, delicious results, and the invaluable freedom to customize your meal by ordering exactly what you want and nothing you don’t.
Remember to order at least seven days ahead to ensure timely delivery for Thanksgiving. It’s also worth noting that some popular Blue Apron dishes might temporarily go in and out of stock, so proactive ordering is advisable. Their holiday dishes remain available through December 29, perfect for extending festive celebrations.
The Sunbasket Chef’s Table Thanksgiving
Order by November 19 for Thanksgiving Delivery.
Somehow I managed to slip past the age of 40 without ever preparing a full holiday feast. In part, I have lived an adult life of Friendsgiving potlucks and Chinatown feasts. But in part, I have been lucky. Well into my midlife, my parents still have the whole extended brood over for the holidays—asking that we bring just a salad, a side, a dessert. I generally bring random experiments: a queso de bola cheesecake, say, or a Hungarian mushroom soup from a local chef’s recipe. A Thanksgiving box from Sunbasket was a chance to pay them back, a little, by making a full Thanksgiving feast—which I cooked side by side with my mother. Heartwarming, I know.
The Sunbasket Chef’s Table Thanksgiving meal kit, priced at $200, delivered an expansive and truly impressive feast designed to feed a crowd. The box itself was large enough to house a primal cut of beef, arriving neatly arranged and insulated. Each dish’s ingredients were thoughtfully separated into paper bags, with a stack of comprehensive recipes and instructions placed on top. To ensure your meal arrives for Thanksgiving, ordering by November 19 is essential, with deliveries scheduled between November 23 and 26. A crucial planning note: the turkey requires a full two days to thaw in the refrigerator, or you’ll need to expedite the process with a cold water bath. Also, be prepared to clear significant shelf space in your fridge for all the components.
The spread was truly a culinary journey. The centerpiece was a nearly 3-pound roast of turkey breast, expertly brined to achieve a level of moistness that often eludes home cooks. Accompanying it were generous mounds of mashed potatoes, which, despite needing only microwaving for reheating, tasted genuinely fresh. The pebbled cranberry compote offered a vibrant burst of sweet and tart flavors. The roasted carrots were elevated with a unique miso-sage butter, adding an unexpected depth. Brussels sprouts were transformed into a delectable side, dappled with salty Pecorino Romano and crispy pancetta. The fennel-apple-sausage stuffing was a rich and savory delight, a complex medley of flavors and textures. Perhaps the most celebrated items were the Gruyère black-pepper biscuits, baked to an impressive inch-plus height, offering a cheesy, peppery, flaky bite that garnered enthusiastic praise from my aunt. A tureen of deep brown, flavorful turkey gravy completed the savory ensemble, while a ginger apple crisp awaited its turn as a warm, comforting dessert.
While the meal kit undeniably saved on stress and extensive planning, it was far from labor-free. Sunbasket suggests an estimated 2.5 hours of prep time. However, like many recipe writers, this estimate is quite optimistic. In reality, with a single oven, you’re likely looking at a total prep time closer to four hours. If you have the luxury of a double oven or a high-quality accessory oven like a large Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro, and a second person to help, you can certainly get it done in just over three hours. To truly streamline the process, I highly recommend preparing the stuffing and the apple crisp the night before. You will also need a wealth of serving dishes and platters, which is expected when preparing a seven-dish feast.
The true magic of the Sunbasket meal lies in its ability to deliver an extravagant, sophisticated feast without demanding advanced culinary skills. The provision of premixed spices, sauces, and conveniently bagged turkey drippings acts as intelligent shortcuts, enabling a high-quality outcome while still providing the satisfaction of a truly home-cooked meal. The instructions included a helpful "game plan" to orchestrate the cooking order for maximum efficiency, often suggesting dishes that could cook simultaneously at the same temperature. My main critique was the heavy reliance on oven space for most dishes, which, even with a double oven, led to some waiting. Additionally, some vegetables, particularly the carrots, required slightly longer cooking times than indicated in the recipe.
Despite these minor points, the results were unequivocally delicious. The brined turkey breast was incredibly tender, a pleasant surprise even for someone who generally favors dark meat. The portions were exceptionally generous; while nominally serving four to six people, our table of five barely made a dent in half the food. Realistically, eight hungry individuals could easily enjoy a substantial feast. At $200 for the Chef’s Classic Meal, it’s a significant investment, but for a seven-dish, high-quality, semi-homemade meal that eliminates the most stressful aspects of holiday cooking, it offers excellent value. While you can opt to shave off the dessert and biscuits for a $20 price break, I wouldn’t recommend it, as the pepper-Gruyère biscuits and apple crisp were among the most popular items. As the meal began, conversation momentarily ceased as everyone dug in, until my mother prompted my father for his verdict: “Everything’s great. No complaints.” The highest praise indeed.
A Charcuterie Board Delivery Service: Boarderie
As a middle-aged person for whom cheese remains one of the few consistent joys, I find myself putting together a lot of charcuterie boards. For holidays, for parties at my house, for parties at others’ houses, or even just for quick dinners. Regardless of the board size, the costs can add up fast, especially once you’ve factored in frills like pickles, dried fruit, chocolate, and chutneys. To say nothing of the time outlay for slicing and arranging. Which is why, this Thanksgiving, I’m skipping the appetizer stress and going to Boarderie, the mail-order instant charcuterie board hyped by Shark Tank shark Lori Grenier.
I recently tried one of the brand’s fall-themed boards in lieu of making my own, and for larger events, I don’t think I will ever DIY again. The tray was stunning; it was both delicious and would have taken me ages to source and arrange on my own. Boarderie boards are shipped overnight, and mine arrived impeccably fresh with still partially frozen ice packs, despite sitting on my porch for half an afternoon. The large size, for instance, came with an astounding 37 components, including 15 distinct cheeses (ranging from a sweet fig-and-rose goat cheese to a pungent wasabi horseradish cheddar), four gourmet meats (such as black truffle salami and chorizo), five kinds of nuts, eight varieties of fruits and pickles, and three boxes of different types of crackers. There were also delightful marmalades and candies, along with a disposable set of bamboo picks, spoons, and tongs for easy serving.
All of it came meticulously shrink-wrapped in its own sections, nestled within charming little bamboo and/or cardboard boats, all set into a beautiful, reusable acacia wood tray. All I had to do was unwrap the sections and arrange the crackers—true minimal effort for maximum impact. Boarderie offers three different board sizes: Classic (serving 2-3), Medium (serving 4-5), and Large (serving 9-10), with my experience confirming the accuracy of these estimates when the board is served as an appetizer rather than a full meal. They also feature holiday themes and customizable cheese numbers and letters, adding a personal touch. There’s also the option for luxurious add-ons like a baked brie ($129) or fresh honeycomb ($19). While undeniably a premium offering, Boarderie provides unparalleled convenience and an impressive, visually stunning presentation that is sure to be a hit. It’s a worthwhile investment to alleviate one significant aspect of Thanksgiving meal planning pressure.
